Repetition, reversal and Void are different
Fu Yin and Fan Yin describe the relationship between Heaven and Earth plates. Green Jade marks 伏吟 when placements broadly coincide and 反吟 when they broadly mirror opposite Palaces. 空亡 is calculated separately from the two Branches absent from the current ten-day Xun.
Do not merge them into “a bad chart.” Fu Yin points to repetition and inertia, Fan Yin to reversal and return, and Void to conditional substance in particular Palaces.
伏吟 · Fu Yin: repetition and stillness
Fu Yin may show a familiar loop, slower development or a return to unfinished work. It complicates a rapid breakthrough but may support preservation, deeper review, correction and consolidation.
For a launch, ask what holds the process in place. In negotiation, check whether the same arguments repeat. For storage or protection, stability may be useful.
反吟 · Fan Yin: reversal and instability
Fan Yin describes an inverted dynamic. A plan may change direction, parties may reverse positions, a trip may involve return, or terms may need renegotiation. A task that needs movement out of stagnation can sometimes use this quality.
Build a fallback, short checkpoints, a right to cancel and evidence-based review criteria instead of assuming conditions will stay fixed.
空亡 · Void: conditional or delayed substance
Void belongs to particular Branches and Palaces. When a working indicator is void, a promise, resource or action may lack expected substance at first. Delay, missing confirmation, incomplete information or a future condition may be involved.
Void is not absolute “never.” Check whether the document, money, authority, person or deadline exists in reality. Sometimes timing changes the condition; sometimes evidence shows the object was only an assumption.

Practical questions to ask
With Fu Yin
What repeats? What must be reviewed before a new step? Is stability useful?
With Fan Yin
What may reverse? Is there a fallback, cancellation right and review point?
With Void
Which confirmation is absent? What exists only as a promise? When will the resource arrive?
None guarantees loss, rejection, conflict, illness or success. Important decisions still require documents, qualified advice, safety and observable evidence.
Frequently asked questions
Is Fu Yin always bad?
No. It slows change but may support preservation, review and consolidation.
Must Fan Yin cancel a plan?
No. Prepare for reversal and use reversible steps.
Does Void mean nothing happens?
No. It makes a result conditional and calls for evidence, resources and timing checks.
